Living God’s Story

Disciple your kids at home by reading the Bible

God has a story to tell. His story is for you and your family. In Living God’s Story, I share about:

  • Our family’s discovery of God’s story, a story that changed the way we live and think.
  • How God enters His story to make Himself real to you and your kids.
  • How to teach the story so your kids can learn, grow, and be transformed.  It’s  simple and natural.

You don’t have to be a super-Christian (Do they really exist?) to teach your kids about Christ. He wants to do that.  Living God’s Story will help you to be a spiritual parent not just a moral teacher. It’s easy and effective, and you can do it.  Living God’s Story will get you started and encourage you.

It’s easy and fits your life

I don’t think God wants learning His story to feel like an unattainable task or a burdensome duty. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words “family devotions?”  How about “curriculum,” “reading plan,” and “family devotion nights?” In fact, the thought of planning and implementing some sort of Bible curriculum while raising five small children would have surely put me over the edge! If phrases like these make you sigh or feel heavy, then Living God’s Story is for you.

You will learn how to:

  • Develop a practical routine that will fit your family.
  • Find a rhythm that harmonizes with your family’s week, seasons, and years.
  • Watch as God makes His story relevant to the events and circumstances of your life.

They love it

Everyone loves a good story.  I am not surprised anymore when my kids ask, “Can we have Bible time tonight?” Often, when I am reading to one kid, another will stop what he or she is doing, come, listen, join in, and even teach a bit. Living God’s Story is not a school lesson, lesson plan, or curriculum.  It is a guide to help you enjoy God through His Word.

It works

Every once in a while someone asks me, “How do your kids know so much about the Bible?” or “What curriculum did you use to teach your kids so much?” These questions always make me smile. The answer they receive is, I am sure, not what is expected. We just read the Bible.

See God work in your family

Isn’t that what it’s all about?  Isn’t that why we have the Bible? Almost ironically we look on in awe as God shows up in His story, teaches us about Him and present circumstances in our lives, shows us how to live, and makes His story relevant to our lives.
